| Hey guys! This is a website that is part of our campaign to encourage people to buy local foods! Buying local is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint and help your local farmers and economy. In addition, the local food you purchase is fresher,healthier, and tastes better! Take a look!  Buying local food has a variety of benefits. First of all, by purchasing local food, our local economy is benefited. This is because, the local farmers receive 80 to 90 cents of every dollar spent on the food that they have grown and sold to the public. Since farming is one of the driving factors in our economy, here in Kentucky, if the farmers do well, than the economy will improve. Secondly, and most importantly, buying local food has an enormous impact on our environment. This idea is what we based our entire project on. We learned that buying local food can save thousands of pounds of carbon emissions a year. Also, if just one person switches to buying local food, 1,000 pounds of carbon emissions can be saved. Now, if everyone did this, imagine the impact we would have!  | |
